Gratitude and thanks

Dear all , with the conclusion of the last trip to Egypt , we have all the gratitude and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ who helped us to fulfill our obligations both professionally and financially.

However, we are still indebted to the sites that we worked for this time as well as the anticipated upcoming service in February and May 2026.

We have a goal of doing around 30 cararact surgeries to people in the Aswan province as well as a support to one dear nurse in one of the Cairo  sites who needs near urgent varicose vein surgery.

With that I sadly announce that we are drying up our resouces and the saved money in the association account is rapidly going down.

With the rising costs of health care around the world including our old country of Egypt , we are feeling short to fulfill our obligations of support.

I trust your generousity will cover all these shortcomings and again I on behalf of all board members would like to express our deep gratitude to your efforts with us  thus far.

May the lord bless all your efforts and donations.

Minutes of the board meeting Feb 2024

CCMA February 17, 2024 Board Meeting Minutes

Attendees:

Dr. Nagi Ross

Dr. Yasser Botros

Dr. Yousry Soliman

Dr. Ashraf Ghali

Dr. Michael Mohareb

1. Prior meeting minutes approved.

2. Discussed CRA requirement that board members be “at arm’s length” from each other. Clarified that this is the case as we have no common financial interests between board members. This should be readily apparent from the information provided to CRA up to this point. Can further clarify at their discretion.

3. Discussed Board structure and elections including previous meeting’s suggestions and requirement to submit to CRA our current plans. Given the COVID pandemic impaired ability to meet and delayed Board activities over a 2-3yr period, the vote from those present at today’s meeting was:

-delay Board election for another 2yrs at which point every year, we will have 2 of the 7 poisitions up for reelection resulting in terms that run 3-4yrs with 50% Board membership turning over every 3yrs.

-reviewed current Board positions:

Chair – Father Angelos Saad

President – Father John Botrous

Treasurer – Dr. Nagi Ross

Chief Operating Officer – Dr Nagi Ross

Secretary – Dr Michael Mohareb

Vice President – Dr. Yasser Botros

Vice President – Dr. Hani Sawires

Vice President - Dr. Ashraf Ghali

4. Discussed request by His Grace Bishop Joseph’s service in sub-Saharan Africa for medical mission, specifically to Botswana. Currently, we do not have members available for a trip in the coming 6-12mos but will advertise it to the group en large as an opportunity for a solo or small group exploratory mission first. Will revisit this service later next year.

5. Reviewed the overview of the financial statement for 2023 indicating a modest surplus from 2023 donations. Also, reviewed expenses of the group for hospitals we have traveled to and worked at while group members pay for their own travel/accommodations.

6. Reviewed relationship with the Canadian Coptic Physicians Group based in Oakville which liaises with Raga’a Hospital in Egypt for assisting with donations primarily for kidney and liver transplant operations. Reviewed that given prior history in Egypt of sub-ethical organ donation practices, that our group would draft a letter for due diligence to help confirm that these donations are performed as per WHO standards such as the Declaration of Istanbul (which is available online). We will review the letter amongst the group before submitting, but for the meantime, ongoing donation support would continue.
